The Finance Bill 2002 has introduced a new package for sports stars. The details are as follows:
The Relief
Basically, once ten years of your sporting career have elapsed, you can deduct 40% of your qualifying income (excludes one-off appearance fees etc.) earned over the last ten years to get your rebate.
The ten year period cannot commence before 6 April 1990, and a person can only claim for years in whch they were resident in Ireland.
